Question:

If a person hears an ayat of sajda from an audio device, does sajda tilawat become necessary?

Answer: ﺑﺴﻢ اﷲ اﻟﺮﺣﻤﻦ اﻟﺮﺣﯿﻢ In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

If a person hears an ayat of sajda (i.e. that ayat which obliges one to make sajdah) from an audio device, e.g. smartphone, computer, tablet, or c.d., sajdah tilawat would not be binding if the voice of the reciter is a recording. However, if the voice is being broadcasted live and the reciter recites an ayat of sajda, then it would become necessary for the listener to make sajda.
