Ask the mufti

The fatwa department receives many questions each week, and a backlog leaves some unanswered. Please read these points before you send yours.

1. If you have already asked another scholar, do not send the same question here unless they refer you.
2. Search this site first. If the answer to your specific case is already published, use that.
3. Allow up to 10 working days. Questions that need more research may take four weeks or longer.
4. Keep the question clear and as short as the facts allow.
5. Send no more than two questions at a time. Wait until those are answered before sending more.
6. The department will write back if a detail is missing.
7. Juristic answers are given according to the Hanafi school.
8. Questions sent by WhatsApp or text are not answered by email.
9. Dream interpretations are not taken.
10. Questions about politics are not taken.
